Fangboner Fridays Presents: A Summer Wine Down

Fangboner Fridays Presents: A Summer Wine Down

Roland has spent three decades growing his own grapes and perfecting his wine-making skills. In fact, his daughter Elizabeth has early memories of helping her dad harvest the grapes and feeling them squish between her toes as she stomped around in a little bucket! Pretty cute, right?

Now is the perfect time to start your own little family tradition of growing grapes - just like the Richardson family has done for so many years. Fangboner Farms is selling $8 Concord grape pots so that you can get started. Aside from being delicious to snack on, growing your own Concord grapes allows you to make your own juice, or maybe even delve into wine-making like Roland!

In case you didn’t know, many visitors to the Farm get to enjoy a sample of Roland’s famous wine, so don’t hesitate to ask. He’s always willing to share samples and tricks of the trade.

This weekend you’ll find lots of plant sales- not only our $8 Concord grape plants, but also ornamental onions, and our flavorful chives. We even have select plants on sale for $5. Come on out, do a little shopping, a little sipping, and a lot of relaxing on our spacious deck.

Fangboner Fridays Presents: A Father's Day at the Farm

Fangboner Fridays Presents: A Father's Day at the Farm

I don’t know about you, but we always associate Father’s Day festivities with outdoor grilling. It’s basically every dad’s chance to show off his cooking skills while sipping a cold drink and spending quality time with the family. Summer fun at its finest!

If you’re still on the fence about what to get Dad for Father’s Day, you may want to keep his love of grilling in mind. We’ve got a couple of ideas for seasonings so he can spice up his usual routine: FabFlava and Melting Pot Meat Rubs. These two Fangboner cooking staples are bound to be welcome gifts. Whether your pop prefers the fragrant parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme comb in FabFlava or the delightfully surprising combo of cinnamon, cumin and curry in our Melting Pot Rub, you can’t go wrong with these Father’s Day gifts for the grill-enthusiasts in your lives. Check out this video Fangboner Farms channel to learn more!

Speaking of Father’s Day, you can always take him out to the farm to shop our products for himself. He may want to buy a plant or two - especially the herbs that are good additions to his grill master repertoire (i.e. our $8 chive pots on sale this weekend).

You can check out the latest updates on what plants we currently have at the farm by visiting our Facebook page. Don’t miss out on all the deals we often have on perennials, herbs and more. This week we have a $5 plant sale, so come on out and see us!

Fangboner Fridays Presents: A Walk through the Valley

Fangboner Fridays Presents: A Walk through the Valley

If you’ve followed our blogs in the past, you may have read about the imaginative ways that Roland and Liz have approached different sections of the farm. Each area has its own name, from Purple Valley to Beaver Valley to Fort Fangboner! For those new to the Fangboner scene, here’s what you can expect when you visit:

When you first enter the driveway, you’ll be greeted with a lush flower bed leading the way to the Farm Market store and our Airbnb.

This is Purple Valley, named after the purple perennials that are in full bloom right now. We are so excited about getting this quaint signage to mark this area of the farm!

You’ll also see a sign for Beaver Valley, and the names origins should be obvious when you see it consists of a long wall made of repurposed materials (limbs, sticks, and other natural materials) donated by our loyal MP & Son Landscaping customers.

Finally, there’s Fort Fangboner, an area that houses our compost and nursery for seedlings that are just starting out. These and our famous hostas are protected from the elements by the wall along Beaver Valley. To see how things looked in early spring, check out this video. Bonus: there is a critter sighting in this one! Don’t forget to smash that Like 👍button and subscribe to our YouTube channel while you’re at it.
